This year’s Africa Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Youth League (ATCCYL) annual event took place at one of the most breath-taking scenery’s in South Africa. Parys, the Afrikaans translation of Paris boasts a range of nature’s best wildlife and riverbanks. Accommodated by Sunwa Resort, members and guest arrived on Friday evening after work for the dinner Braai.
With a promising schedule, Saturday morning took off with a bang, Jonathan from ITA did a presentation about Gun Laws in South Africa. The presentation was extremely informative, members were advised of the procedures and requirements of obtaining a gun licence
Thereafter, Taiwan Embassy representative Mr Hsu and Africa Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (ATCC) President Wen made the opening and welcoming speech respectively. Once again, the Annual General Meeting of ATCCYL proved to be a success. During the meeting members were informed of the events and decisions that took place in the past year. A welcoming decision was made by the Board of Directors to include representatives from Free State, Ladybrand and Newcastle to be part of the Board. Furthermore, members had the opportunity of nominating and voting for their choice of upcoming events.
After Lunch ATCCYL together with Sunwa Resort arranged a series of team building activities called the Magnificent 7. Members were grouped into teams randomly via the numbers they drew. The obstacle courses and mind puzzle games tested the team’s spirit and communication levels as the teams were competing for top spots and prizes. It was evident that the afternoon atmosphere was filled with great spirit and camaraderie amongst the members.
The grand finale was none other than the themed dinner. Dubbed as the Pirates of the Vaal, the venue was decorated with wrecked ships and treasure chests. During the gala, the infamous ATCCYL beer drinking completion was arguably one of the highlights. Teams were lined up and after a series of relay beer downing, Team Free State emerged as the eventual champions. The night concluded with the prize giving of the team building event however members and guest were well entertained into the night the karaoke singing.
